Builders are notorious for creating a mess. There might be dust on the floors, paint on the light switches and debris all over the room. These are just a few common problems caused by builders.
And of course, it’s important to clean up after a renovation project. The mess isn’t just an eye-sore; it can also be dangerous for your health. Dust from walls can be bad your lungs, for example.
However, unless it’s made explicit in your contract, builders aren’t usually responsible for doing a deep clean at the end of the project. Most builders will just sweep and mop the floors and not much else. Therefore it will likely be up to you to make everything clean and sparkling again.
So if you’ve had renovations and now you need to clean up, then read on, because, in this post, we’ll tell you how to clean up after a building project. Here’s what you’ll need to do!
Typically, it’s the builder’s job to remove any debris or litter after a building project. However, builders do sometimes leave things behind. If your new space has random nails lying around or even empty cola cans, then you’ll need to get a bin bag and pick them up.
Sweep and vacuum
One of the most important things to do after renovation work is sweeping and vacuuming. You want to get all that dust out of your building. Make sure to clean all the floors thoroughly, and then to vacuum again at the end of the clean-up just to be sure you got all the dust.
Wipe down surfaces
Wiping is another important part of the clean-up process. It’s how you’ll remove dust from surfaces such as walls, wardrobes, shelves and countertops. Pay special attention to your bathrooms and kitchens, and make sure to use a disinfectant here.
You’ll also want to remove the dust from other places too. Make sure you get all the dust off of your window sills, window frames, lights, fans, blinds, vents, picture frames and lampshades. Dust gets everywhere!
Once everything is free of dust, it’s time to mop the floors. Use a cleaning solution and warm water to make your floors completely clean.
